Wedding in the Rain

I thought I would start sharing some of our weddings we have done in the past. This one shares a special place in my heart. The couple got married at the same location we did. It ended up raining right before the ceremony. Therefore, my husband and I had to quickly think on our feet. We had intended on decorating the arbor outside with flowers. The couple was going to get married right under the arbor. However, since it was raining the couple got married under the tent. We quickly scattered rose petals to line a aisle, used cocktail tables to place a few arrangements on, obelisks were used to pin flowers onto (the flowers intended for the arbor). The wrought iron garden obelisks flanked the bride and groom as they said their vows.

Onto the next one...

Onto the next Eye Candy that is. These are few pictures from Rate My Space that I wanted to save and share with folks. How cute Is this Lamb theme Nursery? I had a friend who also did her Nursery in this bedding. I am hoping she takes a peek at this entry and leaves a comment. I am curious to see her reaction! She ended up moving several months after having her baby, therefore maybe she hasn't "re-started" the Nursery yet in this new house. Hi Cindy, in Chicago, tell us what you think!!

How fun does that chair look? Love the pattern.

The bedding if I recall is from Pottery Barn. I believe it is discontinued now. But, I am sure if you liked it you could always dig around on the Internet and find someone who is trying to sale it!

Love this piece of furniture in the Nursery. I am sure they probably used it for a changing table/dresser. I like how they mixed and matched the pieces of furniture in the room. The crib is white, however this piece isn't. I think it breaks up the room to mix and match sometimes. I think it looks quite nice.

This next Nursery took a pattern off a curtain and drew it onto the wall. For those who are great artists and can sketch or free hand then I think this always adds a fun element to the room. I also liked the lamp they had on their changing table. Ikea, believe it or not.

If you ever want to explore different rooms and get ideas, Rate My Space is always a site I go to.

Before and After

Okay folks. I have to admit I was lazy last night. What good does it do for me to show you guys the finished product pictures if I do not show you the before pictures. I decided tonight I owed you some before pictures to get the full effect. The two top pictures are the BEFORE pictures. The camera does not do a great job showing the color change. The BEFORE was very, very light builder beige. This color like I mentioned last night is "COFFEE". The collection is from Eddie Bauer Homes and you can find it at Lowes.
Before

I spotted this rug at Target and thought it would warm up the space a bit more. I loved the pattern. The rug is made of wool and seems to do the best with our animals!
One day I promise to stop taking pictures on my blackberry and actually use my camera. Then maybe these photos would come out better for you to see!

Here is a closer look at the pattern of the rug.

Trimming it up

One of our latest projects involved dressing up our bare stairwell. The stairwell started out with your builder basic white. We dressed up the walls with "Coffee" and painted the bottom white before adding the white trim work. I have to say I was very pleased with the way it turned out. Mill work can make a world of difference and this project was a mere $300.00.

Happy Anniversary

October 22nd was technically our Anniverary. I have to say our trip to Banner Elk, NC was quite a good one. I thought I would share a few moments of our weekend. I could not get enough of this cute B&B. We stayed at the Blueberry Villa. The Villa is on the grounds of the Banner Elk Winery. If you ever plan a fall getaway to NC then come stay here! Actually, any season here at this villa would not disappoint I am sure.
Here are a few shots of our weekend getaway.

The view from our bed was amazing. We woke up Saturday morning and rolled open the windows for some crisp fall mountain air.

We spent some of the day on the grounds of the villa. You could take a path straight from the house down to the small winery.
The path leads ou down to the trout pond.
The pond had a great fire pit up above it. I am sure this would be a ton of fun to sit around and roast smores, right?

Here is the front of the winery.

Okay, now onto the house. The front porch was fabulous. This porch was the entire length of the house.

Each of the rooms were decorated after different wines. The rooms had these adorable frames on the door to display the "wine" your room was modeled after. We stayed in this room.

Here is a look into our room. I must say red walls are hard to pull off. I think the decor did a great job giving the feel of a nice glass of Red Bordeaux.

The room was pretty to the eyes. However, the things that make a great stay also come down to how fabulous the bed is right? The bed was "oh so comfy". The linens were super soft and the bed had the most fluffy down comforter.
We did pull ourselves away to leave the room, I promise. Of course, not until I take a picture of the nice linens! I know, I am a nut or I am just a sucker for nice bedding!

We finally did leave the room and look at these adorable creatures we were able to go see! Wait... your going to want to go see them too. You must go to Grandfather Mountain and check out the animal habitat if you are ever in NC.

When we left the winery this morning the owner told us to drive up to their upper vineyard to catch an amazing view. We were not disappointed to say the least.

Of course, leaving such a wonderful weekend sort makes you want to do this...

We will definetly put this on one of our places to return to.
It was a great romantic getaway. Check out more on the villa here http://www.blueberryvilla.com/

Chocolate anyone?

Here is a Nursery worth making note of. I love how they paired the deep chocolate walls with the pink accents. This color combo always pairs well together. A damask print was used on the walls as well as the window treatments and bedding. I really liked the layer look of a custom roman shade with long silk panels. The comfy chair with the chandelier above makes for a great cozy spot. The white crib I think pairs great with the color palette. I also think its nice they brought in other colors of furniture in the room. Did you notice the accent pedestal table in a deep brown beside the pink chair? How adorable are the brown bows that tie onto the white crib. Four star rating in my book. This idea is being thrown into the mental storage bin for sure. I do love chocolate walls, damask patterns, and white trim. How could I pass up this room for a future inspiration. Only problem is I would have to have a girl, right??!
