Way behind... Here is a glimpse of Lil' Pumpkins 1st Birthday Party

Fun flowers we picked up at the local farmers market. It is fun just to see what you have laying around the house that you can utlize when your having events. Everything on the table, I had laying around. Candlesticks from Pottery barn, white pumpkins and votive holders are ZGallerie. The vase was from my mom that she happend to give me for my birthday in September. Of course for a fall bday party, you must have some fall scents burning!

The birthday hat was made with left over fabric from her birthday dress and some pom poms we got from Michaels.

We splurged and ordered cupcakes. We had enough planning to do. However, her daddy baked the smash cake by using three little cake pans.

For party favors, I found some fun animal hats at Michaels. This way the kids could play dress up and it just seemed fun since Halloween was that weekend!

Her Nana always wraps up her pretty lil gifts in things Madelyn loves. She loves all animals and loves owls. I think we may frame some of this for her room:)

Cupcakes were a hit. These were the caramel apple ones. The cupcake stand was a disposable one that I dressed up with wide satin chocolate brown ribbon and some decorative trim from Michael's. The circles with ones we cut ourselves.

Cake pops for favors were given as well. Themed in the colors and some were lil pumpkins.

November 12th Wedding

Here is the bridal bouquet I made for a lovely bride this weekend. Hopefully, she will send me links to the photographer photos. The flowers turned out great. Of course we failed to snag pictures of the kissing ball, corsages, other bouquets, etc. We did manage to take this one.

SEA OF BLUE

This wedding was so stunning with all the bright colors. I have so much fun designing with different brides and seeing how different the color schemes are. This bride was married in Wilmington, NC near the cost. She went with cobalt blue dresses for her bridesmaids with complimentary fun orange accents. The color scheme turned out great and the flower design around the cobalt dresses turned out to be so fun. Take a peek for yourself....

As shared before, the bride wanted a clean, simple classic bouquet.

Bridesmaid Bouquets had an array of parrot tulips, hypericum berries, alstromeria,and rannunculus.

Instead of a traditional ring bearer pillow, the bride was creative and used a toy truck for her cute little nephew! A blue hydrangea was placed in the back of the truck for him to carry down the aisle.

Fall Birthday Planning

Our little baby is almost one and I have had lots of planning to do. Here are few things in progress.

1- B-day Banner is made. Except for hanging the pennants on ribbon. We found some nice chocolate brown and orange and white polka dot paper from Michaels and scored some brown and orange plates from the $1 section at Target.

2- The 1 circles are made for the cupcakes

This fabric down below that the # 1 circles are sitting on happen to be the fabric for the sleeves of Madelyn's dress.

3. Cupcake Liners are bought. I originally thought about getting polka dot cupcake liners but changed my mind since the circles would have polka dots too. Plus, I am hoping to dress up the cupcake stand with leftover trim from the party hat. Speaking of trim... check out the super clearance trim Michaels for $1. Here are some damask chocolate brown liners we found at Michaels as well. Gotta love that place.

4. Birthday Hat Trimmings which look like they were hand made to match her dress! What a find. We snagged up some yellow and orange pom pom fringe. Some Ric Rac Orange Ribbon, some fun yellow ribbon that looks like a ruffle almost and some brown sequins.

My mom actually gave me this cute little bud vases for my Birthday few backs and thought they could some how be used at the party.

So, there you have it. Lots left to do but the stages of planning are on there way.

Madelyn's Fall Birthday Dress

I thought a fun and fall inspired dress would be fitting for the party. Madelyn's Mimi will be sewing this lovely dress. The fabric for the dress is in Sandi Henderson's "Splashy Rose Pumpkin" and Michael Miller's "Dots in Mustard". We may alter the bottom of this dress to include a dot trim bottom. I originally saw this dress on etsy and pretty much instantly knew this was the perfect little dress for a fall inspired first birthday outfit.

I thought I would brainstorm on here! What better place right?? What about this for a smash cake. Do you think we should leave the pumpkin top or just do the bottom portion? Or pumpkin top minus the jack o lantern face?? We are totally doing a pumpkin theme. It is the only time mom will have a chance to decide on birthday theme! I bet when she is two she will be saying "I want Elmo for my birthday or Dora. Who knows.

Remember my girlfriend who had the gorgeous Kate Spade inspired colorful wedding? She had me create her dog, Sophie, a beautiful doggie wedding collar. We matched up the colors of the collar to match all the other flowers. Her husband and her got married at a public park in Boston. Therefore, Sophie sure was the talk of the park that day.

Ever heard of the saying "Mommy Brain"

My girlfriends warned me of "mommy brain".  However, I did not believe them until Madelyn came around.  This "mommy brain" moment takes the cake or should I say "flowers".  I was asked to do some arrangements for a former bride for her parents 35th wedding anniversary.  I thought the date was June 30th and it was actually suppose to be July 30th!  Luckily, it was just her bouquet I made and four buckets to line a aisle going down the beach and not an entire wedding!  I was so bummed as I thought the flowers turned out great and just what I had in mind for a vow renewal on the beach:)  The bride told me to use my judgement on picking the flowers but did tell me that her mom loved yellow roses.   I added a few in to all the arrangements.  Here are some close up shots of the bouquet.  My mother in law had just celebrated her 37th wedding anniversary, so I packed up the flowers for our fourth of July road trip (at least they could still be enjoyed)!!   Forgetful mommy brain was not good!

Go Pack!

We had the pleasure of making the flower arrangements this weekend to a dire hard set of NC state pack fans.  The bride is graduate of NC State undergrad and Vet School.  Her husband is also a graduate of State. Her pride runs deep to say the least!  The couple got married at the Brides parents home under a huge white tent. The bride carried a red garden rose bouquet. This type of rose looks similar to a peony flower.  The bridesmaids carried white garden roses.  Each table had a mason jar full of seasonal red and white tulips. Along with berries and white pom pom flowers.  Different types of ribbon were tied around each jar (even cute pig ribbon). The bride holds little piggies close to her heart.  Someone has study other animals besides just cats and dogs! The brides mother made homemade strawberry jam for wedding favors. You can tell by the end of the night by the looks of the tent that everyone had a blast and we enjoyed being a part of it.  I will share the brides wedding portraits later!  So fun!

Can I say this was the most fancy bathrooms I have seen for an outdoor event! Hardwood floors, solid surface counter tops, and even a painting hanging above the toliet! Did I mention they were air conditioned too??

Love the alternative option of using a toy wooden truck for a ring bearer. It also serves as a keepsake and present as well. We added a hydrangea to tie in with the brides bouquet.

My coworker recently celebrated her "royal wedding" (same day even as the one going on in London). She had such a delightful spread of wedding design. Her theme was colorful and full of life. She had so many lovely details (one even being her dog). I had the opportunity to make my first take on a "floral doggie collar". I will share that later along with her awesome shoes and jewelry. Here are few special touches of her day. First, let me share her inspiration photo for her reception flowers.

Her florist, Sprout did a great job replicating her inspiration photo. The runner the bride found on etsy and the fabulous bright bud vases are Kate Spade. Guess who was lucky enough to score one of these after the wedding, me:)) Such a nice thank you from the bride for making her doggie floral collar. If you hadn't already figured it out her doggie was in on their special day:)

Think outside the box before you throw something out. Be green and recycle. My girlfriend recently moved and wanted to do something different over her fireplace vs. the traditional mirror or picture frames. So, what did she do??? She got creative. For the center of this arrangement (she used a wrought iron wall hanger that originally had a glass vase attached) and for the two sides (a wine bottle holder). The wine bottle holder was unscrewed which resulted in two really cool graphic wrought iron pieces when turned on the side. The S was attached to the center to represent their last name. Really cool, huh? What have you guys done to re-purpose items for decorating? I would love to show off your ideas... Send me link if you would like to share.

Springmaid line at Target was screaming "Spring Fever" or more like "buy me". The entire aisle had a ton of options for bedding. Two good things, 1. Affordable and 2. Reversible. Hello! Sign me up. Here are few a shots taken with Mr. Droid. You can see all the reversible comforter sets, sheet sets, and coverlets that coordinate. Oh, and they had a ton of cute pillows. I took a pic of the yellow one so you could see for yourself. I personally am a fan of the Berry sheets and the stripe floral comforter. They may have to make an appearance in the Master.

Fall Wedding-Part II

The bride chose different coordinating colors for bridesmaid dresses. I designed the flower bouquets to blend in with all the different colors.

Reception flowers to compliment the favor bags the bride had made for the guests.

Whimiscal arrangement of burnt red orange sunflowers added a nice twist to the reception. The bride chose to move the arrangement from the church to double as more reception flowers. Nice choice and it saves on $$.

Introducing Madelyn

Mommie life is keeping me pretty busy these past three weeks. However, I wanted to introduce Madelyn. She was born Friday, October 29th weighing in at 9lbs and 1.5 ounces. She was 21 inches long. She had a head full of dark hair. Hummm, wonder who she gets that from???

Madelyns Nursery Reveal

Finally... The reveal. We decided to go bright with the Nursery design. We pulled in a color of the bedding that you would not expect for a girls room, aqua blue. We hope she likes it and can be a room that grows with her.

Fabric was used to line the drawers of the dresser for a fun pop of color!

Madelyn's dresser which is also doubling as her changing table is over a 100 years old and her great, great grandomothers. Lead free and tested! Always make sure you test a piece of furniture before refinishing it. Her dad did a great job refinishing the piece white to match the crib.

Mobile and paintings designed by my sister and inspired by the rug. The rug was pretty much the inspiration behind the design of the room.

Changing table topper I found at the Pottery Barn outlet in SC for 34 bucks! We decided to do her initial behind the changing table. My husband free handed the letter. The vintage white frame that surrounds the letter is from Madelyn's great grandfather/grandmother.

Original hardware was changed out with some vintage type knobs from Anthropolgie

Photo storage box found at Homegoods was used to hold diapers, lotion, and wipes on changing table

What girl doesn't love an organizer. Canvas pink storage organizer added to drawer to hold all the baby socks

Home Made Nursery Mobile Reveal

When I asked my sister if she would help make a mobile for her niece she replied "Sure, what did you have in mind??" We brainstormed some ideas but she was the master mind and over achiever behind this whole project. Little did she know what she got her self into. She spent hours and hours on this thing! I had to promise her I would make her take it to college, ha! She printed out some templates for the flowers and others she made herself. She hand cut all the flowers and sewed each petal onto each other as well as a button for the center. She wanted to make sure there were no choking hazards by having loose materials. Here is sneek peek as I could not wait any longer to share before we hang it this weekend. (If you guys want further details on how she made it just say so in the comments and we can post on that later).

She then alternated between the flowers these felt balls that were in various colors. Some had little rhinestones on them and others were just plain felt. Also, mixed up in between were pre-cut leaves (one in a darker green and one in a chartreuse green)

She attached everything by using two wooden wreath circles and wrapped them with polka dot ribbon. The wider chocolate ribbon comes up from the circles and is topped off at the top with a looped bow in which we will attach onto a hook from the ceiling.

Tucker the cat seems to like it and find it interesting. Lets hope the baby loves it as well! Thanks Ashley, your the best auntie and sister (you were before....) but your right this is just icing on the cake! Love you!

Showered with Love

As I mentioned in my last post, I had my last baby shower this weekend. I am 37 weeks this week. I am going a little out of order as my first shower happened back in August hosted by my sister and closest girlfriends. I will share those photos later when I have collected them all. This weekend was the shower with my husbands family. My mother-in-law hosted this cute shower!!

All the presents were wrapped adorable....

She pulled in inspiration from the Nursery with all the bright colors. She set up tables outside with coordinating table toppers she had sewn herself to add a touch of color in fuschia, chocolate brown, and aqua.

Everyone found their place to sit by the cute place cards she had made (they reminded me of baby block braclets) which was such a neat touch.

Mason jars were used on each table for a pop of color.

The napkins were so adorable. They were a perfect match to the Nursery design.

The menu included:

Flat bread or an assortment of crackers for the yummy southern homemade chicken salad and pimento cheese. We had a yummy fruit salad and a tortellini spinach and tomato salad. Mexican Taco Salad Dip (she had to have something spicy for the expecting mom!) Then to top it off the famous pigs in a blanket!

Now moving onto the dessert bar! Look how awesome these desserts were. I have to say myself, I had no idea there was baking glitter.

My mother-in-law knows I love jelly bellies and threw these onto the dessert bar. I had to pose the pink rubber ducky in them!

One of my other favorite is a carmel candy apple. We had these at our wedding actually and I thought it was so sweet she included these in the dessert bar. Everyone took one home as a favor.

We are so grateful for all the love and support from our family and friends. We cannot thank everyone enough! It was such a fun weekend and I enjoyed every minute of it. Can anyone guess the name?? There was a hint on one of the desserts of the first initial???

Oh and how could I forget... I had to make my husband pose with the pink rubber ducky and he was wearing pink so.... it just made since to snag a pic of the soon daddy-to-be.

Paintings have arrived...

We have a few things left to do to the Nursery. However, at my my last shower this weekend my sister brought over the two finished canvas paintings she had been working on with her boyfriend. The rug of course was the inspiration.

You can also see a good sneek peek of the wall color here, SPRINKLE. It took me awhile to get use to such a bright fun color in the house. It definetly is not anywhere close to the earth tones used everywhere else through out the house. However, we love the bright fun Nursery and think it totally fits the design of the room and looks like a room designed for little girl named " " (to be revealed when she arrives:)))!!! Pardon the odd lighting. We just got a new camera and I took these at night in the room. The lighting is little off but you get the picture.

Lets take a look with the rug shall we?? Crazy huh?? They did a great job. We cannot wait to hang these behind her crib. We also scored an old frame this weekend that will also be used as project behind her crib. It was an old frame from my husbands late grandfather. Extra cool that we can use this in the room. Not so unique after all

Have you ever purchased something and you thought "This is great, no one else will have this at all!?" When I went out and bought this piece of fabric from a local fabric store in Charlotte, NC I thought I was going to have these unique drapes no one else had. It was lacking in length but nothing that could not be fixed by adding some additional fabric. It was not until months later that my ever so fav store came out with their own duvet, shower curtain, pillows, etc. in this exact print!

Does this fabric look familar? My mother in law worked on sewing these curtains for my chocolate brown powder room. I loved all the colors in the fabric. It had all my favorite colors: Aqua, orange, green, browns, burnt reds, etc. We added the fabric up top and some fun fringe to make the curtain longer. I thought I had the most unique curtains until Pottery Barn released their catalog, ha!! Nontheless, I still love them and sort of thought it was funny that PB would think so highly of the exact same fabric:)

BIG REVEAL... Well, not quite....

I am hoping to give you guys some shots of the Nursery this weekend. Last weekend, we had all our family and friends in town for the baby shower. The weekend prior was of course when we painted the room. Everything is coming together nicely. I hope to share some of the photos from the baby shower as my sister and friends out did themselves. Simply beautiful. To tie you over... Here is one adorable accessory that must get added to her room.. I love this birdie laundry hamper. Even though I did not go with birdie bedding, I do love it for a Nursery design. This is a fun way to add a touch of birdies into the room. The Love Bird Hamper is from JCPENNY.

I also wanted to share this lovely color scheme I saw on etsy when looking at tree decals.

This is from the seller NouWall on etsy (the tree decal). I love the grey walls with the aqua and sherbet orange bedding. Again, with the cute added touch of branches and birdies. How pretty.

I was going back through some of my inspiration photos and came across this one I had saved some time ago. I loved the colors, etc. Of course at the time I didn't know if it was a boy or girl. Looking back at this photo I see this is the inspiration photo I truly must have loved if it was a girl. Funny, as I didn't remember this chair at all in the photo. This is the exact chair I just ordered. Here is to hoping I love my aqua blue walls this weekend. I am still loving the white furniture with this color:) So pretty. I can't even remember where I found this picture. Probably hgtv.com and the "rate my space" nurseries.

I have been slack on ordering the rug since I wanted to attempt to try a couple of things. PB teen of course does not have a store. Therefore, you cannot do free shipping to the store, I thought PB kids may could have PB teen shipped there. However, I was wrong. My mother in law suggested I call and see if they would do a free one time shipping pass (doesn't hurt to ask). The tax and shipping alone add another 60 bucks or so to the rug. I did call today and a free shipping pass was not in the works, however they would take 10% off! Sold. I am still loving the very first picture of this Nursery where I saw the rug.

This weekend we are going to paint and get the chair and ottoman in place. The crib is already put together with the bedding. Maybe if we are on top of things we will get the curtains hung!

I will however, share the paint choice candidates. After looking through ton of Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, Home Depot, and Lowes paints. The final contenders were from Lowes and were from Valspar line. The three contenders were Aqua Glow 5007-9B (the deeper and bolder of the three), Grand Hotel Mackinac Blue 5007-9A (the more muted and lighter of the three), and Sprinkle 5008-9A (the brighter and airy one of the three). Stay tuned..

Window Plan

To pull in the bright pink color from the Coco Dot Bedding sheet, we are thinking of doing these curtains. I think this image is just the baby pink ones, however in the store they have a set of panels that are BRIGHT pink (to pull in the bright fuchsia dot in the bedding sheet). The curtains are the Audry Chenile Panels from PB kids. Imagine them up against the aqua color on the walls (pretty much the color from the bumper pad). I think this will serve as a nice pop in the room.

Moving Along....

The Glider and Ottoman have been ordered for the Nursery design. We finally decided to get the chair that had the cleaner lines (minus) the skirt around the bottom. Plus, the chair in this design appeared to have more cushion for your back. Next, the knobs for dresser/changing table have been bought. I decided to get knobs from Anthropologie, Zinna pull handles in Green with pewter and Melon Zinna knobs in aqua and pink. The dresser has three drawers. The top pulls will go on the top drawer since this drawer is narrow and different from the other two. Next, we must finish the sanding and painting for the changing table and attach the piece on top that we purchased from the pottery barn outlet that converts the dressser into a changing table. Then the plan is to line the drawers with fabric.

Fall and aisle decorations for wedding

I love the use of the terra cotta pots lining the aisle. These pots were probably sprayed a metallic color to match the wedding colors. The pots contain faux grass with a ribbon tied around the bottom. This looks great with the decorative chairs. This would be a great touch to a fall wedding.

I love the idea of using mason jars and filling them with coffee beans and flowers. You can buy bulk coffee from any wholesaler for a good price. You can use them in apothecary jars, mason jars, regular vases, etc. It is a great idea for any party but it has been a hit when I have used them for baby showers and wedding arrangements.

Nursery Chair

It is crazy how much you can pay on a Nursery Rocker/Glider. I am leaning towards this chair in Chocolate for the Nursery design. This way it can pull in the brown in other parts of the room. Plus, I think it will be a nice contrast up against the aqua shade of blue on the walls.. I like how the chair has the white piping and can easily be used for the opposite sex later down the road. This particular chair is from Walmart. The brand is Enchanted, however made by the manufacter Little Castle. We have some friends that have a Little Castle Glider they bought from Target and they love it! The cool thing with buying from Walmart for this particular item is they do SITE TO STORE. Which means you save hundreds on shipping charges. It ships to the store free of charge. How cool is that? Now I just need to decide if I want to get the chair with a flat back or more of a cushion top back. You also can get the chair with out the skirt bottom or not. It also comes with a matching ottoman that glides.

Anyone who has ever planned a wedding outdoors has maybe looked into the idea of having an arbor. However, decorating it can sometimes be expensive. Here is a neat way to avoid having to pay a ton. Flowers can get quite expensive to cover such an arbor. I love the idea of using the color scheme of the wedding by draping fabric over the arbor.

Of course leave it up to me to have to stop every few feet in the hotel we stayed at to snag pictures of the decor. Last weekend my husband and I flew down to Ft. Lauderdale for a wedding. The formerly known Yankee Clipper hotel is now the Sheraton. They didn't skip a beat with this renovation. I absouletly loved the way they had it set-up. I must have exclaimed every time we walked through the lobby. I was very close to asking them "What color is this on the walls?" Here are a few pics from my blackberry. Of course I didn't think to bring a camera. Loved the aqua and white decor. Was this not gorgeous!? I had to have my friend Beverly take a pose in the living room section.

I finally found some bedding for our Master bedroom. The set was on sale at Dillards and we couldn't beat the prices they had on sale for a King. It is the luxury hotel collection, 600 Sateen thread count. The collection is called "Bryant Park". They had many different color options. I actually loved this color down below but my husband liked the chocolate brown better. I am a fan of chocolate brown! I think I still may place some of this color somewhere in the room.

I thought the lines were clean and the look seems crisp and airy. It wasn't too feminine and I love the graphic embroidery design. We got everything for 224.00 after taxes. That included the duvet, shams, Euro shams, bed skirt, and the two decorative pillows! A savings of 172.00 dollars! Now onto curtains, a mirror for above the dresser, and lamps!

In planning the backyard, a great flower choice for a Perennial is the Evening Pink Primrose, genus name is Oenothera and some time referred to as "Twlight". I believe at the time when my friend and I were shopping for her flower garden, we grabbed this flower because it was named TWLIGHT. Of course all you Stephanie Meyer fans know why. This flower looks stunning in a flower garden. It comes back every year. If your in the middle of planting flowers for your house then go out to your local Nursery or home improvement store and find this!

On Valentines Day we found out we are expecting our first child! That is why I was MIA in blogger world for awhile. The first trimester was a bit tough (extreme nausea and I want gross u out by sharing the rest!) However, these days I have been feeling much better:) The due date is the day before our anniversary in October.
The planning will soon begin on the Nursery design. We still do not know the sex yet. My husband and I have a bet going. So, we shall see. He bets girl and I bet boy. We should find out in a few weeks. Meanwhile, here is some bedding ideas that I have been searhing out on etsy.com and babylovin.com. I am hoping we can design the bedding ourselves. I can never find anything in the stores that I like that much. What do you guys think of these fabric choices? Fun right?

Most years I am smitten with HGTV dream homes. There are definetly years that I like the style and design more than others. One year I had the pleasure of touring one as it was in my home state. I will have to try and dig up those photos and share. It was such a neat experience to get to tour the home in person. This year I have to say that I love this cottage by the water. One of my favorites this year is the porch. Love the classic white house with all the pops of red furniture. I could see myself out there with a cup of coffee.

Backyard Renovoation has begun

The backyard renovation has begun. The hubby is super busy building the retaining wall, landing/stairs, etc. We are hoping to have the wall and everything built by the Summer. We are trying to beat the NC heat! Here are few inspirations pictures of what is expected. I will take actual photos of our project soon. These were photos I snagged from digging around online. He has done a great job building the landings that are tiered into the side of the hill. This allows us to walk around our deck. Before you had to literally hold onto the rails of the deck to keep from sliding down the hill of our backyard!

MIA??

I know I have been MIA lately (will explain more later). It has been a whirlwind of weeks. However, this past weekend the hubby and I went to buy a new bed. Bye Bye Queen and hello King! I tried to pick out two chairs for our Master bedroom sitting area. I want two chairs to sit on each side of the fireplace. However, I decided to hold off on getting the chairs since I had no idea what colors I am doing for bedding The sky was the limit when it came to picking out the fabric for the chairs. We will see. Sale price tag on these were still around $500.00. We will see. I may have to continue to bargin shop and see if I cannot find some even lower. Besides then maybe I could throw in getting a bench to sit in front of the bed. Decisions, Decisons. I swear decorating the Master Bedroom seems to be the hardest room for me everywhere we live. Good night folks!

Part II of Mood Board Monday

Here is option #2 (see post for option 1 and Part 1 of Mood Board Monday Living Room Designs, here.). The items in this mood board come from various stores such as Ikea, Walmart, Target, and Pottery Barn, and Roomstogo. The items in this design compliment and play off one another. The drapes, couch color, and other accessories pull in colors from each other with the base of the room being centered around the canal painting.

To add some layer to the room we would hang a double rod with drapes from Pottery Barn and Ikea. The Pottery Barn Peyton Linen Drape in Deep Brown would hang behind while the Ikea Stockholm Blad leaf design would bring pattern in the front. The ottoman helps tie in the leather found on the couch and adds some additional storage to the space. A bamboo tray could be used on top to serve as a coffee table function while watching TV.

Espresso color baskets would stow away in remote controls, DVDs, and game accessories in the TV Stand. The hammered nail lamp helps pick up some of the grey hues in the leaves of the drapes. The leaf/grey rock fountain adds both a calming and natural element to the design while playing off the canal water painting.

Finish off the space with an Thomas O Brien Filigree Rug in a Grey/Brown Hue and you have a totally transformed room.

Monday Mood Board Living Room Redesign

Few weeks back a good friend of mine asked to whip him up some mood board designs. I can think of a few paint colors in the Eddie Bauer Collection that would blend with this design, but paint colors will be a separate discussion. You want believe where all of these awesome and affordable items are from.... that is right it is WALMART. Sometimes Walmart can get overshadowed by Target, but they still deserve a try when it comes to budget on a dime. There home trends and canopy collection are awesome.

What is so cool about this couch is it is the perfect contemporary innovation for sitting, reclining or sleeping. The removable cover is made from rich beech microfiber suede and the bundled set includes a storage unit underneath. The Atherton Home Bedford Convertible Lounger converts from sofa to lounger to bed in seconds and is made of a solid wood frame with rich cappuccino finish on legs, button-tufted cover in rich Beech microfiber suede and the cover is removable and can be dry cleaned. Thats right gals and guys this little gem can do lots of tricks. This can come in handy when he or she has friends in town.

Any one else ready for Spring?

Spring seems so far away. I was looking back through some photos and thought I would share some "soon to be Spring is in the air". This was the first place my husband and I ever owned. It was a townhouse we built and lived in for two years prior to moving just shy of 10 minutes further down the road into our house that we live in now. Talk about an annoying move. The fact we had to pack everything up and barely go a few miles.

I am convinced it was the little touches we did outside and inside that made our townhouse sale. Can you believe there are still ones on the market in the same townhouse division that were for sale when we had ours for sale!? We added a silver kick plate to our door. We landscaped what little bit of front yard we had by edging out an L Shape design that hugged the sidewalk leading up to our door. We added some perennial purple flowers to the front, 2 different types of variegated bushes (which keep their color year around), threw in a few flowers, mulch, and landscape rocks here and there. On the other side of the garage we had a Hydrangea bush, however you cannot see it in this picture.

We worked with what little space we had (as you can see our neighbors driveway was right next door! Bit more curb appeal did the trick. I loved my little flower garden.

This was our back deck. We took two Shepherd hooks and buzzed them shorter and screwed them into each side of the deck. We hung grapevine flower baskets off the hooks. Purple petunias are excellent to plant in the hot South. We also took two deck baskets and hung those lower over the inside part of the deck with the same flower. We have planned well that both of our homes we have owned back up to deep woods. I love being able to look out and see tons of trees out of our windows.

Loving this fire pit as part of the landscape plan we are going to begin in the Spring. This fire pit is under $200 and you can find it at Sam's Club. I love the Copper accents. We have a few Copper Accents already such as Bird Feeders and Hummingbird feeders. This will add to the theme.

First, start with this wall decor decal. You can incorporate so many colors into a room with this. If your feeling DIY, you could draw one out yourself.

PB DIY

Did I allure you with my PB reference? Maybe I did for you PB (aka Peanut Butter) lovers or dare I say PB (aka Pottery Barn) lovers out there. Here is a project that I am sure you DIYers could do! Just look how easy this could be done and at a fraction of the cost I am sure. Especially, if you had one of these bad boys around the house. The Bridgeton Armoire is "Oh, so fabulous!". However, the price tag comes in at roughly $1300.
When you open it, you have all this great space.

Closed, it looks like your typical Armoire. Just think, if you had kids you could lock this bad boy up and they would never have the key to the "magical adult stash/juice"

1- You could easily buy the wine racks to screw/install in the top.

2- A top shelf could be inserted. I am sure an existing armoire you have around the house already has one. Although, you may have to buzz some of the width off depending on the size you wanted.

3-Install another shelf and a puller tray. Which would be quite easy. Pretty much the same concept as a roll out desk keyboard holder.

4- Last shelf would be installed and the grid system to hold the wine bottles. And viola, you just made yourself a PB Armoire.

Backyard Planning

We have a big job ahead of us in 2010. Our backyard. As mentioned before, last Spring we decided to build a screen porch as seen here. However, now we must tackle building up our backyard due to the extreme slope. We've been throwing around the idea of a retaining wall. It is quite a wide span of space around the back of the house which raises the red flag of $$$. Although we have a few ideas up our sleeve on possibly cutting the price tag in two. Here are some thought inspiring photos I have in mind for plants and flowers. Here is the line up of plants/bushes that will for sure be taking a place in the back. Gorgeous, I can see these in vases in the house already:)

This Nursery Design is so neat. I love the fun prints behind the crib. Especially the cute prints, the bunny is too cute!! All the right shades of color too. Five stars for sure! Love the use of the alternating kissing balls tied to the chairs to adorn the brides aisle.

Loving the pink and green, cannot seem to escape it. Love, Love, hydrangeas for weddings. These wreaths set the mood for guests as they come into your venue.

Need I say more, look at these awesome chairs with the color combos of green, pink, and black. Then you throw in the fun monogram initials and damask pattern for a slip cover over the chair and TA-DA!

I was surfing around today on houzz and thought I would share some images that I liked today.
I love the window in this bathroom. Along with the crisp white molding around the windows and ceiling. The color is fun!

I am loving this project labeled Island House, images and designer found here. What I like about this project is the symmetry in the room. You can see this throughout the rooms. Too many details to list on what all I like. But, take the tour yourself down below. How gorgeous are are all the french doors and windows!? I love when a home has a ton of natural light.

Decorating bookcases can sometimes be tricky. This is a great example of balance and the use of natural elements. The use of the blue and white paired together is a nice combination.

Yellow Anyone?

I am always amazed that each wedding I have worked on for a bride always turns out different. Different in a good way. Each bride always has her own unique style and taste. The sky is the limit when it comes to designing for a wedding. How fun are the yellow guess shoes? Love them. There are many colors you can combine with yellow. I threw in a few different colors into the board for you to see, such as Grey, Green, and Brown. Click on the image below to see the items closer.

The idea behind setting a mood and theme to the wedding is to look at all the different ways to "tie" in everything. For example, the favors, which consisted of a CD that contained all the bride and grooms favorite songs were printed in the wedding colors. The beverage of choice and table numbers tied into the theme.
I am a big fan of bringing in a touch of nature. I love the use of the painted white branch. Yellow flower pomander balls adorn the branches. The idea of varying heights of vases wrapped in the alternate wedding color is a great idea. The use of of the color brown does a great job to tie in the color of the bridesmaid dresses. The dresses were brown with light yellow sashes. It is the simple touches that can add such a dramatic statement. Varying images from the knot.com
